Statement of Faith

Who God Is:
We believe in the Triune God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He is the omnipotent, omniscient,
and omnipresent God who is sovereign over all. His sovereignty is seen in acts of creation,
salvation, and continual care (I John 5:7, Genesis 3:22, Psalm 2:7-8, Psalm 110:1).
We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His miracles, His
atonement for our sins by His blood sacrifice, His bodily resurrection, His ascension, and His
personal return in power and glory (Isaiah 7:14, John 1:1, John 1:14, John 8:58, Romans 4:25, II Corinthians 5:21, Titus 2:13).

We believe God is eternal; He is without time, having been in existence forever.  God is in three Persons—God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ), and God the Holy Spirit.  God makes Himself known to each of us personally.  (Deuteronomy 33:27a, Acts 2:32-33, Romans 8:29-30, Revelation 22:13)

We believe in God the Holy Spirit who acts in and through people's lives today (John 16:8,1
John 2:27, Acts 13:2, Romans 5:5, 8:9, 8:26, Galatians 4:6).

Bible is the Word of God:
We believe in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments as inspired of God and inerrant in
the original writings and that they are of supreme and final authority in faith and life (II
Timothy 3:16, II Peter 1:21).

We believe the Bible is the true Word of God.  The Bible is without error, and reliably and accurately explains the manner in which we relate to God, to our neighbors, and to the universe.  (2 Timothy 3:14-16, Hebrews 4:12, 2 Peter 1:20-21)

The Creation and Fall:
We accept the Genesis account of the six days of the creation week as a historical record and
believe that the universe with all that is in it was created by God; and we affirm that living
creatures were made according to their kinds and were not produced by some process of
Evolution.

We believe that man was created in the image of God; that he sinned and thereby incurred not
only physical death but also spiritual death, which is separation from God (Genesis 1:27, 2:17,
3:6, Romans 5:12).

Salvation and Redemption:
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures as a
representative and substitutionary sacrifice, and that all that believe in Him are justified on
the grounds of His shed blood and resurrection (Romans 4:25, II Corinthians 5:21).
We believe in the resurrection of the crucified body of the crucified Lord, in His ascension into
heaven, and in His present life there for us, as High Priest and Advocate (I Corinthians 15:4,
Hebrews 4:14, I John 2:1).
We believe Jesus Christ is truly and fully God, and is truly and fully human.  We believe that Jesus came into this world through a virgin birth, that He lived on this earth as we are living, but He did not sin.  Jesus performed many miracles while living on the earth.  Jesus paid for our sins by dying on the cross, being buried, and rising from the dead in His body.  Jesus ascended into heaven, and will personally return at the end of time.  (Matthew 1:20-21, Luke 23:44-56, 24:3-8; 24:51, Revelation 22:12)

We believe human beings are completely corrupted by sin.  Each of us needs a personal renewal as brought about by the Holy Spirit.  (John 8:34, Romans 8:26)

We believe all people will be resurrected at the end of time.  Those who believe in Christ will be resurrected to eternal life, and unbelievers will be resurrected to an eternity in hell.           (1 Thessalonians 4:14-17, Revelation 1:7)

We believe that all who receive by faith apart from the works of the Law the Lord Jesus Christ, are born again of the Holy Spirit and thereby become children of God (John 1:12, Acts 16:31, 20:21, John 5:24, Romans 3:28, 4:1-5, Galatians 2:16, Ephesians 2:8-10).

We believe in the "Blessed Hope" the personal and imminent return of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ (Titus 2:13, Philippians 3:20).

We believe that all who believe in Jesus Christ are united spiritually in Him; they are part of the world-wide church of Jesus known as the body of Christ.  (Romans 8:9, Ephesians 4:11-13)

We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and unjust, in the everlasting joy of the
saved, and the everlasting conscious suffering of the lost (John 5:28-29).

We believe that God rules over all things; every part of life is under His guidance and control (Psalm 103:19, Matthew 10:29-30, Hebrews 1:1-4)

Marriage:
Religious Beliefs
Based on Holy Scripture and teachings of Jesus Christ, we believe:
Marriage - Newton Christian School defines marriage as the permanent, exclusive, comprehensive, and conjugal “one flesh” union of one man and one woman, intrinsically ordered to procreation and biological family, and in furtherance of the moral, spiritual, and public good of binding father, mother, and child. (Genesis 1:27-28, Genesis 2:18-24, Matthew 19:4-9, Mark 10:5-9, Ephesians 5:31-33)
Sexual Immorality - Newton Christian School believes that sexual acts outside marriage are prohibited as sinful. Consequently, Newton Christian School members must resist and refrain from any and all sexual acts outside marriage — including but not limited to adultery, fornication, incest, zoophilia, pornography, prostitution, masturbation, voyeurism, pedophilia, exhibitionism, sodomy, polygamy, polyamory, sologamy, or same-sex sexual acts. (Exodus 20:14, Leviticus 18:7-23, Leviticus 20:10-21, Deuteronomy 5:18, Matthew 15:19, Matthew 5:27-28, Romans 1:26-27, 1 Corinthians 6:9-13, 1 Thessalonians 4:3, Hebrews 13:4, Galatians 5:19, Ephesians 4:17-19, Colossians 3:5)
Gender Identity - Newton Christian School believes that God created mankind in His image: male (man) and female (woman), sexually different but with equal personal dignity. Consequently, Newton Christian School members must affirm their biological sex and refrain from any and all attempts to physically change, alter, or disagree with their predominant biological sex — including but not limited to elective sex-reassignment, transvestite, transgender, or non-binary “genderqueer” acts or conduct. (Genesis 1:26-28, Romans 1:26-32, 1 Corinthians 6:9-11)
Sexual Orientation - Newton Christian School believes that God created and ordered human sexuality to the permanent, exclusive, comprehensive, and conjugal “one flesh” union of man and woman, intrinsically ordered to procreation and biological family, and in furtherance of the moral, spiritual, and public good of binding father, mother, and child. Consequently, Newton Christian School members must affirm the sexual complementarity of man and woman and resist any and all same-sex sexual attractions and refrain from any and all same-sex sexual acts or conduct, which are intrinsically disordered. (Genesis 1:27, Genesis 2:24, Matthew 19:4-6, Mark 10:5-9, Romans 1:26-27, 1 Corinthians 6:9-11, Ephesians 5:25-27, Revelation 19:7-9, Revelation 21:2)
Sexual Redemption - Newton Christian School believes that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God and should seek redemption through confession, repentance, baptism, and faith in Jesus Christ. Consequently, Newton Christian School members must welcome and treat with respect, compassion, and sensitivity all who experience same-sex attractions or confess sexually immoral acts but are committed to resisting sexual temptation, refraining from sexual immorality, and conforming their behavior to Newton Christian School’s Statement of Faith. (Matthew 11:28-30, Romans 3:23, Ephesians 2:1-10, I Corinthians 10:13, Hebrews 2:17-18, Hebrews 4:14-16)
Celibacy - Newton Christian School  believes that Holy Scripture grants two life-enhancing options for human sexual behavior: (1) the conjugal “one flesh” marital union of one man and one woman, and (2) celibacy. Either is a gift from God, given as He wills for His glory and the good of those who receive and rejoice in His gift to them. Celibacy and faithful singleness is to be celebrated and affirmed within the Newton Christian School.. (Genesis 1:27-28; 2:18, 21-24; Matthew 19:4-6; Mark 10:5-8; Hebrews 13:4; 1 Corinthians 7:1-8; Matthew 19:12; 1 Corinthians 12:12-13; Romans 12:10; 1 Timothy 5:1-2)

We believe that marriage was divinely ordained to be the exclusive union of one man and one
woman, and we affirm that the Scriptures command that sexual intimacy be reserved for this
Biblical marital relationship alone, condemning all other forms as sexual immorality. We believe that God created both male and female, and that He designed gender distinctions between men and women, including the Biblically defined and distinctive roles of husband and wife. Since gender distinctions are rooted in divine order, changing or disguising one’s inherited sex (and correlated gender) reflective of this order transgresses God’s design. We believe in the sanctity of life of all human persons, including the unborn, ailing, and aging.

Newton Christian School was established by parents, and is maintained and controlled by the Newton Christian School Board with the support of the parents for the purpose of educating our children in a Christian manner. (Proverbs 22:6, Deuteronomy 6:5-7)

DOCTRINAL DISTINCTIVES STATEMENT

The statement of faith is a document that was developed by Newton Christian School
for the purpose of clarifying the beliefs by which this non-denominational association
would agree theologically. These truths are taught at NCS without apology or exception. There are many other denominational teachings, traditions, practices and distinctives. The teachers,
staff, administration and anyone representing NCS will avoid taking a position on or influencing a student by sharing their personal opinion or belief on such controversial theological or denominational topics since they tend to divide believers. A student is to be referredto the student’s parents and local church if a debatable topic arises of a theological nature.
These topics include: Adult vs. Infant Baptism, Predestination, Speaking in Tongues, Divine
Healing, personal view point of Pre/Post/Mid-Tribulation Rapture, Women in
Leadership/Ministry, and Contemporary Prophetic or Apostolic Ministry. Other topics not
included would need to be addressed on an as needed basis.

The purpose of this corporation is to establish and maintain a Christian day school, or schools, for the training and education of children in all the regular courses of study from a definitely Christian viewpoint, and thereby to prepare them for a positive Christian life actively expressed in society, state, and church, and to the glory of God….

Proverbs 22:6: “Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.”

The Articles of Incorporation of the Newton Christian Day School Association, in Articles III and IV, give a statement of purpose for our Christian School.
We believe that all matters of faith and conduct must be evaluated on the basis of Holy Scripture, which is our infallible guide. (2 Timothy 3:16–17) Since the Holy Bible does speak to the nature of human beings and their sexuality, it is imperative that we correctly understand and articulate what the Bible teaches on these matters.
We are committed to the home and family as set forth in Holy Scripture. We believe God has ordained and created marriage to exist between one man and one woman, with absolute marital fidelity. The Bible sets forth specific home and family values, which include the distinct roles of husbands and wives, fathers and mothers, and children. It is our firm conviction that we uphold the dignity of each individual as we embrace the unchanging and long standing principles of scriptural truth.
