Newton Christian School

Training to a Higher Standard

Mrs. Annie Urias

Secretary

Education:  Bachelor degree in Early Childhood Education, University of Northern Iowa

Mrs. Urias became involved in Newton Christian when her son Chase started Kindergarten.  When he was going into first grade the Secretary position became available and ten years later, she is still counting her blessings for this job. Of all the jobs at NCS, Annie feels she has the best one!  She gets to spend her day helping children and talking to parents.  She gets to witness all of the childhood milestones from the first loose tooth to driving permits and everything in between.  She enjoys watching the children grow physically and spiritually by being challenged and accomplishing their goals.  She loves to listen to stories about new puppies, birthdays or weekend plans.  The students' energy, joy and passion is contagious and it reminds her of how wonderfully and fearfully we are all made.

Annie has many responsibilities as the school's Secretary such as bandaging skinned knees, getting students ice packs, pulling loose teeth (if they let her!), serving lunch, creating the Parent Bulletin and assisting parents with questions.  If parents have a question, Annie usually has the answer!  Every new school year brings the exciting opportunity for Annie to get to know new families and reconnect with current families, so be sure to take time and stop by the office to visit with her.

Annie and her husband Mike have two wonderful children.  Her son Chase attended Newton Christian through 8th grade and is now in college and her daughter Sarah is currently in high school.  Outside of school, Annie enjoys reading, boating and spending time with her family.  One of her favorite Bible verses is Galatians 5:6b "...the only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love."  Her prayer is that she could love more.
